GP 15 – How to Establish a Morning Success Routine

How to Establish a Morning Success RoutineToday, we begin the 4th Module in our Get Productive Series. Here is a quick peek back so far:

In the last module, I showed you how to get started with Evernote, WorkFlowy,  handling email, and clearing out inboxes.
Today we are going to focus on establishing a daily routine for getting things done. Specifically, I want to talk about carving out 15-30 minutes and establish a morning success routine.

Do you know how to motivate yourself? Sometimes, we do not always feel motivated to take action on our goals. Whether we are self-loathing, discouraged, tired, or burned out, we just do not feel very inspired.

Self motivation is a great skill to master. This is especially important for you solo-preneurs out there. You want to work from home, be your own boss, and create your own destiny. However, we often under-estimate the importance of motivation and taking action toward those goals on a daily basis. When you work at home, it is so easy to get lazy.

You can also get just as lazy in the busyness of life and working for someone else as well. We have to juggle commute times, sports schedules, church activities, and much more.

The key for me has been to establish a simple, yet useful daily success routine. I will talk a bit more about this later. Right now I want to share with you how to motivate yourself on a regular basis.

How to Motivate Yourself

how to motivate yourselfChange your environment – we often do not realize how our environment can suck the energy out of us. For me, sometimes it is as simple as cleaning up my home office and clearing the mess on my desk. Whenever I do this, I feel much more under control and I am more willing to take action.

Other times, you may need to go some place different all together. Go study at the library or at the local park. Get some work done at the coffee shop that has free internet access. Switch up your environment for more motivation.

Express your thanks – Sometimes we do not feel motivated because we are drained emotionally. We let the worries of life weigh on our shoulders. Expressing daily gratitude for all of the good in your life can help with this.

Read something positive – Positive reading can work as fuel for your emotional gas tank. One of my favorite books to read when I feel discouraged is the Bible. It is rooted in promises and principles that connect with me. I also enjoy reading anything that Zig Ziglar has produced as well.

If you want to learn how to motivate yourself, read biographies of famous people. It is always amazing to me how many challenges, battles and struggles that people went through before accomplishing their goals.

Journal your discoveries – I often refer to journaling as “active listening.” My fingers and mind are engaged in writing but at the same time I am forced to listen and pay attention to what I am writing. Journaling has been an extremely useful exercise for me.

Review your life plan – Whenever I sense a loss of motivation, I also like to pull out my life plan. It helps me to re-connect with the “big why” behind everything I am doing. I get excited as I read over the life goals that I have established.

Watch something inspirational – We can also gain a sense of motivation by watching inspirational videos and movies. Just do a quick search on Youtube for “inspirational videos.” Your heart will be moved. You will be ready to tackle on any of the challenges that you face.

Okay, so I just gave you many suggestions. How can you possibly put all of this together? I do all of the above in a 30 minute block of time every morning. I call it my daily success routine. It helps me to get a kick start to my day.

Get It Done Now Task – Decide What To Do For Your Morning Success Routine

Most of my 30 minute routine comes from the Day Launcher System by Derek Franklin. I already use his awesome time management tool, the Action Machine, every single day.

The Day Launcher System is a tool that you can use to establish a simple daily success routine. Imagine how pumped you are to start the day after doing all of the items above. It is incredibly motivating! In the days ahead, I will share with you exactly what I do every morning in my daily 30 minute success routine.

If you just want to start somewhere, then pick one of the items above and do that every morning for 10 minutes. If you want to really, take your motivation to the next level, look into the Day Launcher System. It is a great tool for learning how to motivate yourself each and every day.

Jonathan, I found your blog site today and I have enjoyed reading some of your blogs. This blog was truly a blessing. I can get into serious funks where I am not motivated to do anything. This list helped me to get motivated today to work on some things I need to take care of.
